Jean Shin has a knack for taking everyday objects and combining and manipulating them to create a life size sculpture.  She amasses large collections of one particular object like records or pill bottles, sports trophies, silverware.  She often sources these objects through donations by individuals. In this art installation “Sound Wave” Records were melted and sculpted to form a cascading wave, dotted with bursts of colorful labels. The resulting structure speaks to the inevitable waves of technology that render each successive generation of recordable media obsolete. Her work has been widely exhibited in major national and international museums, including in solo exhibitions at the Montclair Art Museum (2013), DeCordova Museum (2012),
